Lark Eden

Tracing the lives and life-long friendships of three southern women beginning in the Depression era and continuing through the early years of the new century, Lark Eden offers a lyrical exploration of the ties that bind lives together as tightly as family, and as surely as love. From frog catching girls with skinned knees to world wizened grandmothers, Lark Eden follows these three lives through personal trials and victories no less daunting than the historical tribulations which provide the backdrop to these everyday American lives.

Entertaining Mr. Sloane

by Joe Orton

Directed by

Sloane is a handsome young man who needs a room. Kath is willing to rent the room to make a little extra cash, and is more than willing to have the comely young Sloane around the house to make a little extra time. Desires and anticipations become sport when Ed, Kath's brother, appears to compete for Sloane's affections--all to the disappointment of old man Kemp. Set in pre-mod England, Entertaining Mr. Sloane offers up a tale of skewed ethics and conflicted conventions, amid a morass of mixed morals. It's contrary Joe Orton at his wittiest and acerbic best.

Parallel Lives

by Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy

Parallel Lives, based on Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney's 1989 stage show and a 1991 HBO special by the same name runs parallel to our park show at The Schmee. From angels discussing God's interior decorating choices for the world to West Texas bar patrons, Parallel Lives offers a talented cast of two the chance to create a multitude of characters to delight and confound. After 20 years, Parallel Lives (updated with new material in 2005) still rings true as a penetrating look at Americana.

Fallen Angels

by Noel Coward

Directed by

Fallen Angels is early Noël Coward—originally presented in 1925—and yet the script displays the full range of rapier wit that was his hallmark. Two fast and long friends enjoying cocktails while their husbands are on a golfing weekend discover that they are both waiting for an assignation with a long lost premarital love. Horror, jealousy and comedy ensue when they realize they are both waiting for the same man! Scandalous then, always hilarious, and drier than a straight martini, Fallen Angels closes out our 2012 season with panache.
