Maria/Stuart
by Jason Grote
A contemporary rip-off of Friedrich Schiller's Mary Stuart, Jason Grote's dark comedy is a hysterical take on dysfunctional family life that incorporates ghosts, German poetry, and liters of soda in a dance at the edge of theatrical chaos. Stuart is in his late 20's, lives with his mother, and is into comic books. He, his mother, his 2 aunts, his grandmother, and his too-close and too-pretty cousin, have dark secrets - and until the secrets are revealed, an agitated and somewhat confused spirit who has access to fax machines will not rest.
